MOLS, Entry for May 23, 2009
Mols was doing well today, but she is indeed a little shy girl. She met me at the door thinking I was going to be her mom, took one look at me and made a bee line for the bedroom. So, I went about my chores to give her a little time to relax, then went looking for her in the bedroom where I found the telling lump under the bed covers:) I sat next to the bed and talked to the lump for a long while trying to use my most soothing tones -saying her name many times much to no avail. The few times that I peeked under the covers, I found a wide eyed little girl starring back at me. She did sniff my finger once which was very brave of her, but wasn't prepared to go beyond that. So, I eventually retired to the sofa in the living room and sat very still for a long time to see if she might think that I had left the apartment and venture out. She was too smart for that though:) So, I talked to her some more before I left and told her that I would be back tomorrow. If she try's to hide again tomorrow, I will try to steer her toward a space that we can make eye contact and will show her a fresh bowl of food. If she sees that I can be useful she might give me a try:) We have a few tricks up our sleeves with shy kitties, but we'll just have to wait and see:)
